Simutrans and Simutrans Reference Material Project
Simutrans is a transport simulation originally written by Hansjörg Malthaner and currently maintained by the Simutrans Team. The Simutrans Reference Material Project (SRM) which comprises of the Starter Guide and the Reference Manual started before simutrans had any in-game help system. And hope to provide the user with all the details about operating a successful Simutrans Transportation Company.

Simutrans Reference Manual Translations
The Latest Revision of the Reference Material is always in English. The Simutrans Reference Material
is also being provided in other Languages.There is currently a Spanish translation of the Starter
Guide available.
There are several languages that are currently translating portions of the Simutrans Reference
Material. These Languages include Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chezck. If you would rather the
Reference Material in your own language why not mention it. You could be the next language translator.
The Starter Guide
Heritage
The Starter Guide began in July 2005. Originally known then as The Simutrans Quick Guide, it was 12 pages in length. Renamed The Simutrans Starter Guide, it was restructured and released as 2.00. With the Third Edition (3.x) the Starter Guide shows off the developments made since 88.10.5.
Intention
Although similar to the Simutrans Reference Manual the Starter Guide has a distinctive purpose, which is to;
- Provide an introduction for new users about the interface and operation of Simutrans
- Give users of the 88.10.5 (Stable) version an incentive to upgrade simutrans while simutrans moves to 1.00
- Provide some simple details how users can enchance their Simutrans experience though city lists, add-ons, or custom maps

The Reference Manual
Heritage
The Simutrans Reference Manual was the natural evolution of the Starter Guide. The Reference Manual was started in October 2005 with the release of 1.00. The Reference Manual 2.01 was released July 2006 after undergoing a restructure matching the Starter Guide. The Third Edition (3.00) was first released 30 June 2007. The Reference Manual still recieves constant revision.
Intention
The Simutrans Reference Manual intends to present more information to the user about Simutrans than the Starter Guide:
- Provide a full description of how to operate Simutrans
- List the costs associated with infrastructure and vehicles
- Illustrate some of the later versions of Simutrans
- Provide regular updates (every month or two)

Ormac
SRM Team Position: SRM Project Lead, SRM Author [English]
Ormac is head of the SRM Team as well as the author of the Reference Material Available on this site.
He started providing the Simutrans Community with the Starter Guide and the Reference Manual since July
2005 (with an SRM Team of one). Over that time he has received assistance from people who have reciently
been identified as the Simutrans Reference Material Team.
Vilvoh
SRM Team Position: SRM Website Graphic Artist, SRM Translator [Spanish]
Vilvoh was the first translator of the Simutrans Reference Material. Translating the Starter Guide into Spanish.
Vilvoh has also proved his ability as a web artist and developer doing much of the work to present you with this
Third Edition of the website.

Joker provided the Title Page Illustration for both the Second and Third Editions of Ormacs Simutrans
